This project expresses our desire to take action and build, envision a house and design our own work space. It establishes our will to fit into the city in a contemporary way and carry out an ambitious architectural project on a nevertheless modest scale.

Each element of the program is redefined at its root, characterized by an area, a specific exposure and a particular material:
- the workshop features a northern exposure, a skylight window, a great ceiling-height, raw, even industrial materials.
- the housing space benefits from a east/west exposure, ceiling-heights varie, certain walls are lacquered and the carpentry elements are made of exotic red wood.

However, the specificity of each area is not expressed through a simple summing-up of independent elements. The smallness of the 45 m2 building land and the layout of the adjoining buildings lead us to combine all the areas together as a whole. The longitudinal section, a key element in our approach, binds the different floors and multiple volumes together. Extensively intertwined, they develop around a central diagonal to make the most of the existing surface. The sense of increased space, stretched in every available way, is due to the balance between compression (low level, suspended volume, etc...) and expansion towards the light.
