Among the brownstones in Harlem, we come across a leftover building plot of original proportions corresponding to half the width of a normal sized plot (12’ instead of the standard 25’). Two families have formed a partnership to commission this work. Each wants a split-level apartment for housing as well as for working purposes and would also like to build two other rental apartments.
Laying out four apartments, dealing with the light and creating a feeling of roominess using this long narrow building plot are this project’s challenges.
The first family lives on the ground floor level apartment and enjoys a garden as the other chooses the uper floor and its terrace.
